Can't Get XP/Win7 Dual Boot To Boot Without Win 7 Install Disk

At first I was not able to get into windows at all ... I would only get as far as the window error recovery screen ... windows was unable to fix the problem when I tried the recovery. I used the install disk and that allowed me to get into windows 7, but I was not given the boot menu to go into XP. It would go straight into 7. I used easy BCD to get the boot menu back, but I found it would not boot to that menu without the win7 install disk ... in the DVD... this is 32 bit by the way. I tried all different things ... several dos commands to rebuild the BCD, the MBR ... fix the boot ... nothing works ... I've tried programs that is suppose to fix windows boot config, like Lazesoft Recovery ... it didn't work ... easyBCD couldn't help other than providing the boot menu that allows me to boot into XP. I see the boot folder and the bootmgr listed ... I've look at the tutorials to help with boot problems but they didn't help either. I even tried to do a re install of win 7, but that didn't work either. I don't want to do a clean install because of the hassle ... I'd rather leave the install disk in the DVD rather than do that ... Once booted windows runs normally.
