Can I replace a wall mounted knob (fan speed control) w/ dimmer switch?

I have a triple switch wall plate in my master bedroom, which has 2 light switches (one on either side) and a knob in the middle, which controls the ceiling fan speed. The knob has 4 settings, iterated twice on the knob: Off, low, medium, and high. I want to replace the wall plate, switches and knob, but don't know what is compatible with the rotary knob in the middle. Can I replace it with a dimmer switch of some kind? Any insight and/or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank You, Sarah
