Compressors at 8000 Feet

I have purchased a small Bostich pancake compressor and a cheap two barrel compressor at different times over the past 5 years. They work fine in Oklahoma were I first used them. We moved to New Mexico up in the mountains, near the 8,000 foot elevation. These two compressors will not pump up to their cut off pressure in the high altitudes. Do the Husky compressors or any other compressor at the big box stores work at 8,000 feet?
