Damaged Desk

I'm not sure if this is the proper forum to ask this question. If not, could the moderator please transfer it. I have an old, inexpensive computer desk that is perfect for our purposes. As you can see, there has been some real wear and tear along the edges of the desktop. Although it's easy enough to replace, I would like to patch it up. Any suggestions on how I can fix it up?
