Question about vapor barrier.
Hi everyone,
I am putting insulation in my basement which basically is above ground except for one 20 foot wall because I live on a hill. Even though 90 percent of my basement is above ground I still get a lot of moisture. It may be coming from the floor but not sure. I noticed clothing has mildew and things left down there as well. So my question is do I need to put a plastic vapor barrier between the insulation and sheetrock? or do I just need faced r13? Also if I do use a vapor barrier is it ok to put it over faced insulation or does it have to be unfaced? Would it be over-kill to put faced plus plastic barrier or os more not better in this case?
As of now I did purchase Owens Corning R-13 Kraft Faced Insulation Roll (My walls are only 7ft high) but I can always return that and get something else if I have the wrong thing. I live in long island NY so I think its zone 4 if that helps. Winters are cold and summers are hot and humid.
Sorry for having so many question but I would rather ask now then have to redo it all and lose lots of money. Thanks everyone.
