Moving pellet stove heat to bedrooms above
Hello and Happy New Year!
I had a Heatilator CAB50 pellet stove installed in my basement 2 years ago. I live in a typical 80s-era rancher, with the pellet stove being in the rear left corner. It's in a semi-finished room of about 26'x24' directly under the 3 bedrooms. On cold winter nights I turn it on and leave the basement door open and it helps heat the bedrooms, but I'm wondering if I can more efficiently get heat into the bedrooms. The heat pump has a variable speed fan and doesn't seem to help.
So I'm thinking about cutting another register into the floor of each bedroom, and maybe ducting it to grates in the basement ceiling, with an inline damper in each to close in the summer (and limit sound from the basement). How does this sound?
